Cost Accountant - Borden-Carleton, PE

Master Packaging Inc. the leader of corrugate and folding carton packaging located in Borden, PEI is currently seeking a self-motivated and energetic individual to join our team as a Cost Accountant.

As a member of a highly energetic and goal-oriented team, you will be mainly responsible for the following:

Data Collection

  • Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
  • Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
  • Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems
  • Compile information from various departments to fulfill certification requirements for annual audits

Inventory

  • Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts
  • Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues
  • Update standard costs in the bill of materials
  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies

Analysis

  • Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses
  • Report on breakeven points by products and work centers
  • Report on margins by product and division
  • Report on periodic variances and their causes
  • Partner with the Master Estimator to assure job costing is accurate

Reporting

  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports relating to costing and variances
  • Partner with the Controller to process payments
  • Cross-train with the Controller to assure there is adequate back-up on most tasks

Requirements and Skills:

  • Professional Accounting designation preferred, or in progress
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in a cost accounting position in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work independently and with strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of best practices as they relate to cost accounting and internal controls
  • Strong computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytic skills, and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team
  • Experience working with large databases and extraction tools.

Purchasing Manager - Dieppe, NB

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Supply Chain, you will be responsible to ensure the procurement of materials and services meet organizational objectives for cost, quality and delivery. You will work closely with internal customers and vendors to monitor performance and share KPI’s with our Leadership Team.

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of material usage, baseline costs, forecasted pricing and industry trends for our key product categories.
  • Pursue supply agreements for our key products and services to maintain competitive pricing and uninterrupted supply.
  • Establish inventory strategies for raw materials based on business needs and market conditions.
  • Evaluate competitive proposals, including developing and negotiating new agreements, in partnership with legal counsel, while ensuring compliance with our company policies and procedures.
  • Perform analytics on procurement related data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop departmental goals that align with company objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities, in collaboration with key vendors and/or internal customers, to achieve desired goals.
  • Identify secondary vendors for key raw materials and supplies. Work closely with our quality departments and plant engineering to ensure new materials are properly tested and qualified.
  • Maintain KPI’s to monitor the performance of our key vendors.
  • Review and approve purchase orders created by your team.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the Procurement Team members.

Requirement / Knowledge and Skills:

  • Degree or diploma in business, supply chain, science or engineering,
  • A minimum of 5 years supply chain procurement experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supervising and managing employees
  • Solid understanding of contractual terms & conditions
  • Experience in leading negotiations and crafting structured agreements with legal and stakeholder input
  • Experience with data analytics, spreadsheets and reporting tools, such as Excel.

As a member of a highly energetic and goal-oriented Maintenance team, you will be responsible for following, identifying, and performing various maintenance activities in a highly automated industrial environment. Not only are you very strong technically, but you also possess excellent communication and priority management skills to enable you to take charge of situations, interact with colleagues, suppliers, and international manufacturers to get the job done right the first time.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Education in a mechanical trade (minimum block 2)
  • Licensed Industrial Mechanic or Certified Millwright would be considered an asset
  • Experience in a manufacturing industry would also be considered an asset
  • Responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment
